Enhance your salary in a flexible environment
Please view this opportunity strictly as an opportunity to enhance your total family income. Typically you will be a work-from-home professional who has family commitments at home (homemaker), while your spouse is earning. Alternately you could be a professional with a part- time assignment but who wants to put in at least 20 hours per week from home in the early mornings, evenings or weekends. This position does not suit full-time professionals because they are sometimes unable to reliably commit the 20 hours per week minimum commitment. For such persons who want to enhance the family income, this opportunity will allow you to earn between $10000 to $20000 additional family income per year, depending on whether you work for 20 or 40 hours per week ($10 per hour). Canadian residents will earn as many Canadian Dollars (CD$10/hour).

Once again, please note this work contract is really suitable for those who have a regular family income, and want to earn something extra by leveraging the timing and location flexibility that a typical work-from-home environment provides. It is not intended to offer you a remuneration that can cover either part or the whole of your living expenses. It does not intend to substitute for a part-time or full time job that takes care of your living expenses.

You will directly report (remotely) to an STG Team Lead located at Santa Clara and discharge the tasks that you are asked to do. These tasks could be any of the following, and STG will contract with you only if you are willing to take up all tasks listed below:

1) Write code based on functional requirements of a web based application that will be communicated to you in Net Meeting sessions.

2) Write the test plan and test process documents

3) Perform the Unit tests for the web based application

4) Performing the Subsystem and Integration tests

Work from Home Infrastructure
For the tasks detailed above, you will require to have your own license of Microsoft Word and Excel.

For tasks in serial 1,3 and 4 STG will provide you the required ASP and SQL Server 2000 development and testing environment and software licenses through a remote log-in to STGs Development servers in Santa Clara, CA, and remote Internet access to STGs Testing and Integration servers at Santa Clara but you will need to provide a PC with high speed internet access on your own.

For day to day meetings with your Team Lead you will need to have your own (free) license of Microsoft NetMeeting, internet access, and a separate land line based telephone, so that you can access the Internet while speaking on a telephone. You will need to have a headset and microphone connected to your telephone for hands free working on a PC during synchronous NetMeeting sessions. While most long distance calls will be originated by STG (Santa Clara) and cost you nothing, STG will reimburse the direct long distance cost of telephone calls you make for the completion of tasks.

Flexible working hours and no travel
You will need to commit at least 20 hours per week for this assignment. You may work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week if you wish on any weekday, including weekends. Your working hours are flexible and you can log-in remotely to STGs development/testing Servers in Santa Clara remotely anytime 24X7 to complete the tasks that are assigned to you.

However you will have synchronous NetMeetings with your US based Supervisor every weekday (in the beginning) and these will start during the time period from 10AM Pacific Time to 6PM Pacific Time. You will need to allocate one or two hours during this time period, and communicate this to your Supervisor.

Work-from-home contracts, while offering a great deal of location and timing flexibility do have a critical requirement of a home-office that you should additionally meet. You should have a separate, segregated work area that you consider your home-office, where you can work undisturbed and with high efficiency. Please insure that family, friends and pets do not come into this area when you are working, and that there is no background noise, for example from a TV. These are not only important for the efficiency of your work, but to also have synchronous NetMeeting sessions with your Supervisor in an undisturbed setting. STG will require you to commit to creating such a professional home-office environment.

We do not normally require you to travel, but if you are flexible to occasionally travel for a week to Santa Clara this will be a plus point for your selection. STG will reimburse all costs of such travel.

Qualifications and Experience requirements
We are looking for candidates with at least a Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 3 years of direct program development experience in ASP and using SQL Server 2000. In addition you should be proficient in using Visual Interdev 6.0 and have a good knowledge of VBScript, Javascript and HTML.

If, after meeting all the above requirements, you are Microsoft Certified in Visual Interdev, ASP or SQL Programming it will be a huge plus. Knowledge of Visual Sourcesafe is a plus.

Employment Eligibility
We will employ you on a contract basis. We will issue a 1099 form for US residents who are green card holders or citizens. We will also employ Canadian residents on a contract basis. We will contract with H1B personnel on a Corp-Corp basis only if your sponsoring corporation agrees to pass on the entire remuneration you make, directly to you retaining zero margins for themselves.

Joining Time Requirements
Preference for interviews will be given to you if you can join immediately upon acceptance of a contract from STG. We expect this will happen in early April 2004.
